Learning Through Care,
Play, and Routine
Our Own Curriculum, Brought to Life Every Day
Every week at Kindred Kids has one theme, from Fire Safety & Community Helpers to Night Animals. Every child explores it together, from infants to school-age, each at their own level. Each day plans activities across seven developmental areas, with a hands-on Main Lesson and a themed Enrichment Time in our playroom.
Our curriculum is designed here at Kindred Kids, around the children we care for. It is designed around the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, and guided by NAEYC’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Families get photos, daily updates and notes on their child’s progress through our parent app.
- A new learning theme every week
- Daily lessons across seven developmental areas
- A themed enrichment day, every day: Cooking, Music, Movement & Sports, STEM and Arts
- A new language each month: Spanish, French and Haitian Creole

Structured and intentional for us, pure play for them.

Hands-On STEAM, Every Day
What is STEAM? STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Instead of teaching these as separate subjects, STEAM blends them into hands-on projects. Children ask questions, try ideas, build, test and create, the same way real scientists, engineers and artists work. At this age, STEAM looks like play: pouring and measuring, stacking blocks until they stand, mixing colors, and asking “what happens if…?”
How we bring STEAM to life:
- Science: daily experiments, predictions and garden time, like sink or float and what’s inside a pumpkin
- Technology: simple tools and devices that teach cause and effect, like light boxes, timers and walkie-talkies
- Engineering: build challenges every STEM Day, with ladders, towers, bridges and fences that have to stand up
- Arts: painting, crafts, music and dance on Arts Day and Music Day, and in our art center every day
- Math: counting, sorting, patterns and measuring woven into cooking, music, games and the weekly theme
Every weekly theme includes all five, so STEAM is part of every day, not a once-a-week class.
A New Language Every Month
Children’s brains are wired for language in the early years, so we make a new language part of every day. Each month we focus on one language. Children hear it in greetings, songs and stories and learn a themed set of words each week that ties to our weekly theme.
October: Spanish · November: French · December: Haitian Creole
- A morning greeting in the language of the month (“¡Buenos días!”)
- Five themed words each week, like bombero (firefighter), rojo (red) and ayuda (help) during Fire Safety week
- Songs, counting and storytime words woven into the day
- Words posted on the weekly schedule so families can practice at home
By the end of each month, children can greet, count and name everyday things in a new language, and they start to see the world as a bigger place.
